Volleyball Game Preview: East Mecklenburg Eagles vs. Weddington Warriors

The East Mecklenburg Eagles will take on the Weddington Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Mecklenburg will be strutting in after a victory while Weddington will be coming in after a defeat.

Weddington will be up against a hot East Mecklenburg team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles put the hurt on North Mecklenburg with a sharp 3-0 win on Friday.

East Mecklenburg was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-12, 25-16.

East Mecklenburg's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Adalberto Gomez, who had eight digs and four aces, and Shreyash Pilli, who had 20 assists. That's the most aces Gomez has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Weddington's good fortune finally ran out last Thursday. They fell just short of Marvin Ridge by a score of 3-2.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Weddington sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 20-25, 15-4.

East Mecklenburg's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Weddington, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3.
