Basketball Recap: Choctaw County Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Choctaw County duked it out withShields on Wednesday. The Choctaw County Tigers were outmatched by the Shields Panthers and fell 72-26. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-10.

Despite the loss, Choctaw County still got an impressive performance from Kamya Straight, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Straight a new career-high. JaKyala Williams also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

Shields' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Markaja Brown, who almost dropped a triple-double on 27 points, 11 assists, and nine steals. CarTarriyah Hicks was another key player, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 15 boards.

Choctaw County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Shields, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

While Choctaw County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
