Softball Game Preview: Rice Bulldogs vs. Palmer Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Rice will face off against Palmer. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Rice is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Rice came up short against Palmer on Tuesday, falling 15-4.

For Palmer's part, Kenli Dobie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Dobie has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Samantha Maddox was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Peyton Yates was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Palmer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Rice's loss dropped their record down to 8-5-1. As for Palmer, they moved to 8-12-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Rice has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Palmer struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits.
