Basketball Preview: Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders vs. Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders

Monsignor Scanlan is 1-9 against the Crusaders since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders will head out on the road to square off against the Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. Monsignor Scanlan has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Even though Cardinal Hayes scored an imposing 67 points on Tuesday, Monsignor Scanlan still came out on top. Monsignor Scanlan took their contest against the Cardinals 74-67.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Stepinac waltzed into their match on Sunday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. Everything went their way against Bishop Loughlin as Archbishop Stepinac made off with a 87-61 win. Archbishop Stepinac has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Boogie Fland was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Jasiah Jervis was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists.

Monsignor Scanlan now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Archbishop Stepinac, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Things could have been worse for Monsignor Scanlan, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 74-57 loss to the Crusaders when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Monsignor Scanlan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
