Football Game Preview: Burke County Bears vs. Laney Wildcats + How To Watch

Burke County is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Laney is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bears will welcome the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Burke County humbled Butler with a 44-6 victory. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 415th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Burke County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamari Reeves, who rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown.

Reeves was just one part of a punishing run game: Burke County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Laney's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They claimed a resounding 52-0 win over Glenn Hills.

Laney's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Burke County, their win bumped their record up to an identical 7-2.

Burke County took their victory against Laney in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 49-28 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
