Baseball Recap: Dayton Comes Up Short

Dayton extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Grant County Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 on April 9th.

As for Grant County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.

For Grant County's part, Braylon Rodriguez was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The Braves are 9-1 when Rodriguez posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Seth Tucker was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Dayton will head out on the road to challenge Calvary Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Grant County, they will be playing at home against Paintsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
