Baseball Recap: Adams Central Comes Up Short

Adams Central dropped their record down to 14-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the North Platte Bulldogs by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Patriots couldn't push the score so high this time.

Adams Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Dyer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Dyer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

As for North Platte, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-13. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games.

On North Platte's side, Cade Freeze looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Freeze also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Bulldogs are undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 2-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Tyler Haneborg and Dein McEntire did most of the damage at the plate: Haneborg went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while McEntire got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI. What's more, McEntire posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Caden Joneson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Adams Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 16-7 win against Aurora on the 26th. As for North Platte, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-4 victory against Maxwell on the 24th.
