Cardinal Gibbons dropped down to 6-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were dealt a 47-0 defeat at the hands of the Chaminade-Madonna Lions. The Chiefs were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the five games prior), but the Lions' defense proved too tough.

Cardinal Gibbons didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Alejandro Romay and Ahmand Johnson Jr..

As for Chaminade-Madonna, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.7 points on average over those games.

Chaminade-Madonna found their leader in freshman Malik Leonard, who threw for 382 yards and four TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes. Tromon Isaac Jr. was in the mix too, providing the Lions with two touchdowns.

Coming up, Cardinal Gibbons will challenge Miramar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they will take on St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' defense has only allowed 13.6 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them.
