Recap: Flanagan Falcons vs. Cypress Bay Lightning
The Flanagan Falcons lost against the Cypress Bay Lightning back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Flanagan ended up on the wrong side of a rough 69-44 walloping at the hands of Cypress Bay. While losing is never fun, Flanagan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Cypress Bay is ranked 76th).
Despite the defeat, Flanagan saw an underclassman step up: D?Naela Myers dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Myers scored a full 36.4% of Flanagan's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Charlize Coats, who scored 8 points.
Flanagan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Cypress Bay, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Flanagan will head out on the road to face off against Fort Lauderdale at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Fort Lauderdale will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Cypress Bay, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Boyd Anderson at 6:00 p.m.
