Soccer Game Preview: Amarillo vs. Birdville

The Amarillo Sandies will square off against the Birdville Hawks on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Amarillo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against El Paso as Amarillo made off with a 5-2 victory. The win was nothing new for Amarillo as they're now sitting on four straight.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Birdville made sure to put some goals up on the board against Cleburne on Tuesday. They blew past the Yellowjackets 7-1. Winning may never get old, but Birdville sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Amarillo pushed their record up to 19-1-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 42 goals over those nine matches. As for Birdville, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.

Amarillo couldn't quite get it done against Birdville in their previous matchup back in January of 2019 as they fell 2-0. Can Amarillo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
