The Colony Titans will head out on the road to square off against the South Hills Huskies at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Colony has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight defeats, while South Hills will come in with four straight victories.
Colony is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Patriot by a score of 15-14 on Monday. Even if the Titans couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Cyan Cruz(2026) was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Gisella De Los Santos(2025) also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.
Meanwhile, South Hills made easy work of San Dimas on Wednesday and carried off a 15-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Abigail Quintero looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Katelyn Saguin was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Sanchez, who went 3-for-5 with seven RBI, one triple, and one double.
South Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
South Hills' record now sits at 12-5-1. As for Colony, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Colony has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like South Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts.
