Basketball Recap: Regahn Espinoza's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ben Lomond over Providence Hall

Ben Lomond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 32-22 to the Providence Hall Patriots. The Scots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Ben Lomond's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Regahn Espinoza, who posted four points along with 15 boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinytee Martinez, who earned seven points in addition to 11 rebounds and four steals.

Providence Hall's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leeah Petersen, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Petersen a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Emilia Chiarenza, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Ben Lomond's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Providence Hall, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Coming up, Ben Lomond will be playing at home against Orem at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Providence Hall, they will welcome Salt Lake Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
