Basketball Recap: Jamison Howard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South over Northwest

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact South can now relate to. They lost 77-51 to the Northwest Grizzlies on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Grizzlies: they've now lost six in a row.

South's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamison Howard, who went 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to rack up 19 points and six rebounds. Howard continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Maliek Saunders was another key player, shooting 45% from the field on his way to 11 points and five boards.

River Peters was his usual excellent self, going 11-for-17 en route to 27 points and five rebounds for Northwest. That's the most points Peters has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elijah Benning, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 13 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

South's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Northwest, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northwest, they have already played their next contest, a 75-64 defeat against Maize on the 7th.
