Basketball Game Preview: Merritt Island Christian Cougars vs. St. Edward's Pirates

Having just played yesterday, the Merritt Island Christian Cougars will jump right back in to play the St. Edward's Pirates at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Merritt Island Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

On Friday, Merritt Island Christian was fully in charge, breezing past First Academy 53-18. The game marked the Cougars' most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday St. Edward's sidestepped Harvest Community for a 29-26 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

St. Edward's is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Merritt Island Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Merritt Island Christian came up short against St. Edward's in their previous meeting back in November of 2020, falling 45-32. Can Merritt Island Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
