Recap: South Caldwell Spartans vs. Bandys Trojans
The South Caldwell Spartans waltzed into Friday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 50-28 margin over Bandys. Given South Caldwell's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Bandys is ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Caldwell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lillie Bumgarner, who scored 10 points. The game was Bumgarner's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Addison Edwards, who scored 9 points.
Bandys' loss came despite strong showings from Rachel Anderson and Kate Dutka. Anderson scored 8 points, while Dutka scored 5 points along with 5 rebounds. Anderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
South Caldwell now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bandys, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Caldwell will take on Bunker Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bunker Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Friday. As for Bandys, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome St. Stephens at 6:30 p.m. on December 5th. St. Stephens and Bandys are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
