Softball Recap: Palmer Wins Going Away Against Rice

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grandview, Palmer was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Rice. Considering Palmer's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Kenli Dobie made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Samantha Maddox was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Kaylee Adams was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Palmer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Palmer moved to 8-12-1 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Rice, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5-1.

Palmer will have a chance to go back-to-back against Rice: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
