Baseball Recap: Lathrop Malemutes vs. Wasilla Warriors
Lathrop had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-3 to make it four. They lost 17-8 to the Wasilla Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-14 on Friday.
Koby Sullivan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jared Sabey, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Wasilla, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.
On Wasilla's side, they let Aiden Perez and Camden Mette run wild. Perez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Mette went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Mette a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of LaLo PaLomares, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Lathrop will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Pole at 6:30 p.m. on the 15th. As for Wasilla, they will take on West Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Warriors are facing the Wolf Pack at the right time seeing as the Wolf Pack are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
