Recap: Mt. Carmel Golden Aces vs. Casey-Westfield Warriors

You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces's strategy against the Casey-Westfield Warriors on Monday. Mt. Carmel enjoyed a cozy 46-32 win over Casey-Westfield. Given Mt. Carmel's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Casey-Westfield is ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Mt. Carmel to victory were Madison Stevens and Maycee Randall. Stevens scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Randall scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nora Jones, who scored seven points.

Mt. Carmel is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Casey-Westfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-14.

Mt. Carmel will head out on the road to challenge Red Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Red Hill is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. As for Casey-Westfield, they will be playing at home against Newton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newton is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
