Soccer Game Preview: Valley vs. Albuquerque Academy + How To Watch

Valley hasn't had much luck against Albuquerque Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. Valley has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 18 goals over their last three matchups.

Valley is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Bernalillo on Tuesday. Neither the Vikings nor the Spartans could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 4-4 draw.

Meanwhile, Albuquerque Academy had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.1 goals) and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Hilltoppers. Give Albuquerque Academy's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Albuquerque Academy used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Los Alamos. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Ingrid Gilchrist (80), Sabine Craig (55), and Ella Julian (80). The trio had averaged 27.7, 23.2, and 49.6 minutes respectively before Saturday's match. Craig made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Albuquerque Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-2-1. Valley's draw makes their record 8-6-1 this season.

Valley might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Albuquerque Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
