Recap: North Mustangs vs. Fairfax Stampede

The North Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 73-37 win over Fairfax on the road. With that win, North brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.

North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xxylina Flores led the charge by scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Flores has scored at least 25% of North's points. Saniyah Downing was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

The win got North back to even at 7-7. As for Fairfax, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

North and Central will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. Fairfax will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cactus Shadows at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
