Softball Recap: College Station Extends Home Winning Streak to 11

It was a proper cat-fight when College Station faced off against A&M Consolidated on Tuesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 9-4. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Gracie Ream made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Bailey Southard was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Callia Carreon was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

College Station hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.

College Station's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for A&M Consolidated, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Coming up, College Station will square off against Rudder at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.47 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for A&M Consolidated, they will take on Brenham at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cubs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
