Recap: Springville Red Devils vs. Maple Mountain Golden Eagles

The Springville Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to Maple Mountain. Springville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Maple Mountain apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Springville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hattie Templeman, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Templeman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Johnson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.

Maple Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leah Bailey, who scored 15 points along with six assists and two blocks. Shay Brown was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Springville has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Maple Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Springville will be playing in front of their home fans against Salem Hills at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Salem Hills is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Maple Mountain, they will face off against Timpview at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Timpview is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50 points per game.
