Softball Recap: Crystal River Wins Going Away Against Yulee

After only one run in their last game, Crystal River made sure to put some runs up on the board against Yulee on Saturday. Crystal River put the hurt on Yulee with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Pirates have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Violet Flynn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Athena Childs, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since March 6th. Brooklyn Tidwell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Crystal River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the victory, Crystal River broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-4. As for Yulee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7-1.

Looking ahead, Crystal River will face off against Williston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Yulee, they will challenge Hilliard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
