4A District 8 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Ellender moved up to 143 from 227 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A District 8. The Patriots climbed the ranks as a result of a 68-24 win over Albany.
Ellender took down the Hornets 68-24 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dustin Creppel threw for 419 yards and six touchdowns in the win.
Eric Walker was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 102 yards on 14 carries as Morgan City beat Albany. Teammate Keyvon Marsh added to the ground attack by rushing for 52 yards.
Turner was the best wideout in the league this week as the Patriots topped Brad Ficklin's team. Turner tallied five receptions for 161 yards. Dan Mitchell helped Ellender's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 94 yards.
Ellender's Creppel and Turner have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A District 8 in both passing and receiving yards. Creppel has thrown for 1374 yards this season, while Turner, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 20 catches for 399 yards. Walker from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 204 yards.
The Patriots led the league in scoring this week after putting up 68 points on the Hornets. Creppel in the win.
