Baseball Recap: Mendon Unity Mustangs vs. Seymour Indians
Mendon Unity was the 6-1 winner over Seymour when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Mendon Unity Mustangs fell just short of the Seymour Indians by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday.
Sawyer Allen put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Allen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Allen was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-3 with a stolen base, two RBI, and a double.
In other batting news, Cody Shaffer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ben McClelland, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.
Even though they lost, Mendon Unity hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seymour struck out ten times.
On Seymour's side, Connor Howell was incredible, going 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Miller, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
