Basketball Recap: North Valleys' Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

North Valleys entered their match against South Tahoe on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The North Valleys Panthers took a 64-45 bruising from the South Tahoe Vikings. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 57-47 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

North Valleys' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kyrone Washington, who posted nine points and seven rebounds, and Jodie Zubiate, who had 11 points. That's the most points Washington has posted since back in February of 2024. Mikole Almond was another key player, putting up three points.

Even though they lost, North Valleys smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Tahoe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Oscar Mendoza, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Mendoza is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kai McClain, who put up six points in addition to seven assists and five steals.

North Valleys' loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3. As for South Tahoe, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

North Valleys wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-17 win against Sparks on the 10th. As for South Tahoe, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-44 victory against Hug on the 10th.
