Softball Game Preview: Fowler Redcats vs. Liberty Hawks

The Fowler Redcats will face off against the Liberty Hawks at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fowler's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Caruthers.

Meanwhile, Liberty had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Tribe with a sharp 13-3 victory.

Macie Webster spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carly Jimenez was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Carley Hedstrom, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Jimenez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matches.

Liberty pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Fowler, their win bumped their record up to 8-4-1.
