Soccer Game Preview: Bishop McGuinness vs. Christ the King

Bishop McGuinness is 0-3 against Christ the King since May of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Villains will host the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bishop McGuinness is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Elkin get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The win was nothing new for Bishop McGuinness as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Meanwhile, Christ the King waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Wolves. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Christ the King's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Bethany Community are ranked 167th).

Bishop McGuinness' victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 69 goals over those ten matches. As for Christ the King, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5-1.

Bishop McGuinness came up short against Christ the King in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Villains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
