Basketball Recap: Heritage Leadership Academy Gets the Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Heritage Leadership Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 victory over the Iron Academy Swordsmen. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fletchers.

Jacob Peterson was his usual excellent self, putting up 24 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals. Those eight steals gave him a new career-high. Jonathan Adams was another key player, to rack up 16 points and six boards.

Heritage Leadership Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Heritage Leadership Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Iron Academy, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 11-7.

Heritage Leadership Academy has already played their next matchup, a 68-67 loss against Alpha Academy on the 17th. As for Iron Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-50 defeat against Carter G. Woodson on the 17th.
