Baseball Recap: Soddy Daisy Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Soddy Daisy had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the McCallie Blue Tornado by a score of 10-6. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 5-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Cooper Poe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Poe was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Hayden Hickey and Jake Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Hickey scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Jackson scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Cayden Romano was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Coming up, Soddy Daisy will be playing in front of their home fans against McMinn County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McCallie, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Dobyns-Bennett at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
