Basketball Game Preview: Soledad Aztecs vs. Gonzales Spartans

The Soledad Aztecs will face off against the Gonzales Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Soledad has three straight wins, Gonzales has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Wednesday, Soledad strolled past North Salinas with points to spare, taking the game 59-45.

Pablo Morales Iv continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 24 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Anikan Tavarez, who posted six points and ten rebounds.

Soledad was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Salinas only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, Gonzales played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against North Salinas, falling 72-42. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-16.

Soledad pushed their record up to 9-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Gonzales, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything came up roses for Soledad against Gonzales when the teams last played on January 6th, as the squad secured a 68-41 win. Will Soledad repeat their success, or does Gonzales have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
