Baseball Recap: Mifflinburg's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Mifflinburg had lost six games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-11 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Loyalsock Township Lancers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-1 back in April.

Mifflinburg's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Boyer, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Boyer a new career-high. Cole Reibsome also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Loyalsock Township, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since March 25th.

On Loyalsock Township's side, Deryk Kulp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. Kulp is becoming a predictor of the Lancers' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-2 (and 4-8 when he doesn't).

Mifflinburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Loyalsock Township, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 5-1 defeat against Montoursville on the 15th.
