Softball Recap: The Villages Charter Takes a Loss

After soaring to ten runs the game before, The Villages Charter was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They fell just short of the Forest Wildcats by a score of 2-1. The Buffalo were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Haylee Nobles was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, The Villages Charter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexy Sanchez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Sanchez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The Villages Charter's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6. As for Forest, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Villages Charter will venture away from home to face off against Lake Weir at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Villages Charter is facing Lake Weir at the right time seeing as Lake Weir is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Forest, they will head out on the road to challenge DeLand at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
