Softball Game Preview: Heritage Coyotes vs. Liberty Redhawks

The Heritage Coyotes will venture away from home to square off against the Liberty Redhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Heritage has struggled recently with 22 defeats in a row, while Liberty will arrive with three straight victories.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Heritage and Memorial had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Coyotes lost 19-3 to the Warriors on Friday. Coyotes fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Warriors since on Friday.

Meanwhile, while Liberty put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Centennial. The Redhawks were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Titans. The result was nothing new for the Redhawks, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Addison Hanson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Adeline Glatch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Terry, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Liberty pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 0-15.

Heritage suffered a grim 27-2 defeat to Liberty when the teams last played back in March. Can the Coyotes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
