Basketball Recap: Horeb Christian Beats Cristo Rey for Their Second Straight Victory

If Cristo Rey wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Horeb Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Aiden Ravelo. The Horeb Christian Mustangs took their matchup on Wednesday with ease, bagging an 82-49 victory over the Cristo Rey Monarchs thanks in part to Ravelo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. He has been hot, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last five times he's played.

Another player making a difference was Jonathan Gonzalez, who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points and three steals. What's more, he also racked up two boards, the most he's had since back in December of 2023.

The win made it two in a row for Horeb Christian and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Cristo Rey, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Horeb Christian and Don Soffer Aventura will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. Don Soffer Aventura is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season. As for Cristo Rey, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Somerset Academy Central Miramar at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
