            Baseball Recap: Macomb Bombers vs. Pleasant Plains Cardinals        
        
		
        
        
            If Macomb was riding high  fresh off their  12-1 takedown of Cuba/Spoon River Valley on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bombers fell  5-1 to the Pleasant Plains Cardinals on Friday. The Bombers haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Macomb got a good showing from  Jaxon Barclay, who   tossed 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Barclay has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, Macomb saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Drew Watson, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with one  double.  Emmett Beck was another,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with one  RBI.
Macomb's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Pleasant Plains, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record  this season.
 Macomb wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  game,  a  10-0  defeat against Routt Catholic on the 25th. As for Pleasant Plains, they will take on Eureka at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Cardinals are on  a  three-game streak of home wins, the Hornets  a  five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
