Softball Game Preview: Berea Pirates vs. Holmes Bulldogs

The Berea Pirates will challenge the Holmes Bulldogs at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Berea is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 17-7 to Barbourville.

Kelsey Slone made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cora Reed, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Holmes couldn't beat Bellevue on Friday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the first inning. The Bulldogs came up short against the Tigers, falling 20-9. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Berea, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Berea took their victory against Holmes in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 12-1 score. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
