Baseball Recap: Orleans Takes a Loss

Orleans was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Daviess Cougars. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.

Troy Dille was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kaden Berning, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Orleans' defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for North Daviess, they pushed their record up to 7-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Orleans will challenge Bloomfield at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for North Daviess, they will face off against Barr-Reeve at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
