Softball Game Preview: West Mesquite Wranglers vs. Wilson Wildcats

The West Mesquite Wranglers will head out on the road to take on the Wilson Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West Mesquite took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Adams as West Mesquite made off with a 13-1 victory. The Wranglers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Avery Cox looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Chasity Thomas was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ava Garza, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

West Mesquite kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wilson had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past the Stallions 13-1.

Wilson's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for West Mesquite, their record is now 9-7.

West Mesquite took their win against Wilson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3. Does West Mesquite have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wilson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
