Basketball Recap: Greenback Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Greenback had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders 81-16. The Cherokees were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-7.

Jayden Barton was nothing short of spectacular for Gatlinburg-Pittman: he went 12-for-22 on his way to 26 points. Another player making a difference was Roger Matute, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Looking ahead, Greenback will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Concord Christian at 6:00 p.m. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-55 win against Clinton on the 22nd.
