Preview: Celeste Blue Devils vs. Wolfe City Wolves
Celeste has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Wolfe City Wolves at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Celeste didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Whitewright, but they still walked away with a 49-43 victory.
Meanwhile, Wolfe City had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Trenton on Wednesday as Wolfe City made off with a 43-20 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Wolfe City has posted against Trenton since January 28, 2020.
Wolfe City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harry Martinez, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Martinez hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cavan Armstrong, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Celeste's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Wolfe City, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-18.
Things could have been worse for Celeste, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-52 loss to Wolfe City in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Celeste avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
