Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hot Springs). They claimed a resounding 67-36 win over the Hatch Valley Bears. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Bears are ranked 131st), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Hatch Valley lost, don't look at Omar Gonzalez. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points and seven boards. Johnny Garcia was another key player, putting up five points.

Hot Springs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points over those games. Hatch Valley's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-17.

Hot Springs will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hatch Valley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
