Preview: Higley Knights vs. Williams Field Black Hawks
Higley has been on the road for two straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Williams Field Black Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Monday, Higley was able to grind out a solid victory over Casa Grande, taking the game 59-47. Given Higley's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Casa Grande is ranked 183rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Luke Haugo and Noah Gloor were among the main playmakers for Higley as the former dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds and the latter scored 23 points along with seven assists. That's the first time this season that Haugo pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Dabney, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Williams Field's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Mountain Pointe by a score of 61-58. Williams Field has struggled against Mountain Pointe recently, as their contest on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Higley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Williams Field, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Higley strolled past Williams Field in their previous matchup on Friday by a score of 68-49. Will Higley repeat their success, or does Williams Field have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
