Basketball Preview: Waterbury Career Academy Spartans vs. Holy Cross Crusaders
The Waterbury Career Academy Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Holy Cross Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waterbury Career Academy is looking to tack on another W to their 11-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Even though Wilby scored an imposing 71 points on Friday, Waterbury Career Academy still came out on top. Waterbury Career Academy strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 87-71.
Waterbury Career Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zaire Lott, who scored 35 points along with two steals and two blocks. Lott hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Andrew Williams was another key contributor, scoring 27 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Holy Cross' good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The contest between them and Conard wasn't particularly close, with Holy Cross falling 78-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Waterbury Career Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Holy Cross, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Things could have been worse for Waterbury Career Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-54 loss to the Crusaders when the teams last played back in January.
