Flatirons Academy took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 14-13 win over the Highland Huskies. This was payback for the Bison, who suffered a 24-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

The critical scores for Flatirons Academy came from Jackson Schulz and Everson Nelson.

Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Elijah Elder, who rushed for 101 yards on only nine carries. Elder also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making 13 total tackles and defending one pass.

Looking ahead, Flatirons Academy will welcome Limon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Highland, they are taking a road trip to face off against Platte Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
