Flatirons Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 14-13 win over the Highland Huskies. This was payback for the Bison, who suffered a 24-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

When it comes to explaining why Highland lost, don't look at Elijah Elder. Despite the final result, he rushed for 101 yards on only nine carries. Elder also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making 13 total tackles and defending one pass.

Coming up, Flatirons Academy will face off against Limon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Highland, they will square off against Platte Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
