Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Lancers vs. Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets

The Lakewood Lancers will head out to challenge the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lakewood will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Heath, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Lakewood walked away with a 53-44 victory over Heath on Saturday. The Lancers didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon came tearing into Monday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 48-26 victory.

Lakewood's win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Mt. Vernon, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
