Basketball Game Preview: Boonsboro Warriors vs. Smithsburg Leopards

The Boonsboro Warriors will take on the Smithsburg Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Boonsboro is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 67 points on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Middletown on Friday. They took a blow against the Knights, falling 65-30. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Smithsburg played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 79-44 loss at the hands of Williamsport. While losing is never fun, the Leopards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Wildcats are ranked 91st).

Smithsburg has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Boonsboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Boonsboro beat Smithsburg 58-48 when the teams last played back in January. Will Boonsboro repeat their success, or does Smithsburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
