Highlands had lost eight straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-14 to make it nine. They lost 20-5 to the Vacaville Christian Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 on Thursday.
Highlands saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hanalei Miller, who got two hits.
As for Vacaville Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.
On Vacaville Christian's side, Hailey Hulsey made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hulsey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Alivia Timm looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Elena Vizcay, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with six runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Daisy Stafford was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Highlands has already played their next matchup, an 18-6 win against San Juan on the 28th. As for Vacaville Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-6 victory against Golden Sierra on the 28th.
