Baseball Recap: Noble Street College Prep Has No Trouble Against Rauner

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Noble Street College Prep had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Rauner Wildcats with a sharp 21-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Golden Tigers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Juan Juarez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Noble Street College Prep's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Juarez was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alexander Bonilla was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was T'Shawn Chester, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Noble Street College Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Noble Street College Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Rauner, they dropped their record down to 8-14 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Noble Street College Prep and Rauner will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Golden Tigers see the field they'll take on Kelly at 4:30 p.m. on the 20th. As for Rauner, their break will end when they face Farragut at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
